چکیده

The design of business processes involves the usage of modeling languages, tools and methodologies. In this paper we highlight and address a relevant limitation of the Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN): its weak data representation capabilities. In particular, we extend it with data-specific constructs derived from existing data modeling notations and adapted to blend gracefully into BPMN diagrams. The extension has been developed taking existing modeling languages and requirement analyses into account: we characterize our notation using the Workflow Data Patterns and provide mappings to the main XML-based business process languages.

Are We There Yet? Seamless Mapping of Bpmn to Bpel4ws Introduction

Current process management practice strives for better support for mappings between process models in the design and execution phases of process implementation projects. In this context, BPMN was developed as a graphical representation for the process execution language BPEL4WS, with the intention that BPMN can be automatically mapped to executable BPEL4WS specifications. However, there is doub...

Declarative Process Modeling in BPMN

Traditional business process modeling notations, including the standard Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN), rely on an imperative paradigm wherein the process model captures all allowed activity flows. In other words, every flow that is not specified is implicitly disallowed. In the past decade, several researchers have exposed the limitations of this paradigm in the context of business...

An Extension of Enhanced Russell Measure to deal with Interval Scale Data in DEA

Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) models with interval inputs and outputs have been rarely discussed in DEA literature. This paper, using the enhanced Russell measurement proposes an extended model which permits the presence of interval scale variables which can take both negative and positive values. The model is compared with most well-known DEA models of which include the CCR model, the BCC mo...

Qualitative Analysis of Integration Adapter Modeling

Integration Adapters are a fundamental part of an integration system, since they provide (business) applications access to its messaging channel. However, their modeling and configuration remain under-represented. In previous work, the integration control and data flow syntax and semantics have been expressed in the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) as a semantic model for message-base...
